The Intro
Ten bands...
Fitty bands...
Hunnid bands...
Fuck it man...
This song takes me back to 2015, cruising down I-476 near Philadelphia on my way home from yet another winning poker session. Life was good. I was twenty-four years old, rolling with my windows down, music blaring, and twenty grand in cash in a backpack on the passenger seat. I had just founded my first startup in esports. Between the business and poker and my blind confidence, you couldn't tell me I wasn't about to be twenty-five sitting on twenty-five mil.
I don't recall the exact lyrics after "Fuck it man..." but it didn't matter. I always replaced them with my own while rapping along.
I don't flaunt this shit in public man...
Nope. Not ya boy. I've always been private and introverted. I rarely post to social media. I never had more than a couple hundred friends on Facebook, and permanently deleted the account (college pictures and memories be damned!) years before it became popular to do so. I don't scroll through Instagram highlights nor do I care to share what I'm doing. I've always felt the people who need me know how and where to find me.
So what the hell am I doing with this blog? Well, truth is I don't expect anyone to ever read this.
While building my first startup I decided I want to write a book someday sharing my true experiences as a founder and the many lessons I've learned along the way. There was one glaring issue. I sucked at writing in school, I suck at writing now, and it's difficult to envision a future where I don't continue to suck at writing. I once wrote a college research paper on the industrial production and transportation of mangoes from the first person perspective of a Mango! It was literally the only time I ever received an A grade on a paper spanning the entirety of my English career. Thank the good Lord I went into STEM.
Someone once compared building a startup to hopping out of an airplane and assembling the parachute on the way down. It's insane yet also insanely exhilarating. I figure there's only one way to get better as a writer. Of all things the younger me would never have expected, here I am. Writing. In English. Striving towards proper-ish grammer.
I appreciate you stumbling onto my blog and for making it this far into the intro post. Remember to smash that like button!
I hope you enjoy our journey towards the ground! Ya boy just jumped off the plane.
